RC Helicopters Are No Toys!
It does not seem right to call RC helicopters toys, since they are just as popular among adults as they are with the younger generations. In fact, they might be more popular with adults. However, when you are new to the world of radio controlled vehicles, flying them can be something of a chore. The good news is that there are some very simple steps that you can follow to ensure a smooth flight.

For one thing, you want to get used to the helicopter first. It needs to be set up and trimmed properly. Before it ever takes to the skies, you need to do some ground exercises. You always need to make sure you follow the instructions when it comes to trimming and things of that nature. Once you are sure everything is right, it is time for some ground maneuvers. Basically you want to spend some time getting used to the controls without actually lifting your helicopter up in the air.
Next, you are going to want to learn to hover. This will be important to later flying maneuvers as well. It will also help you learn how to control your RC helicopters better, which will improve your flying skills in general. The key to this exercise is stability. You want to try to keep your helicopter steadily hovering in one spot for as long as possible
Now you are ready to engage in some basic flight maneuvers. Before anything else, you just want to get your directional flying down. What that means is that you want to pick a point off in the distance, whether it is a few feet or a few inches, and fly your RC helicopters there.
Doing nose-in hovers and a variety of other flights all come next. You should continue practice hovering in a more advanced way. You should also try to fly your helicopter in some figure eights and some square flight patterns.
Once you have accomplished these basic maneuvers, you are ready to start flying in earnest. The most important thing to take from all of this is that you want to be in control of the RC helicopters before you start to seriously fly it.
